Designers participating in the World Cup will work with Dutch Creations products

The Interflora World Cup in Shanghai will consist of four preliminary events. The first two on Friday 26 March 2010 and Saturday 27 March 2010 and the final two events on Sunday 28 March 2010. Each event will be open to the public. The top 10 scoring contestants from the preliminary events will move on to the final competition round.

All participating designers will have their work displayed during the World Cup.

Dutch Creations is sponsoring the flowers for the event. The participating designers will work with Dutch Creations products. The diverse range from Dutch Creations consists of flowers and pot plants from more than 30 product groups.

The participating floral designers have a great oppotunity of enhancing their creativity by working with Dutch Creations' flowers and plants.

The preliminary rounds

The first event, Designers Choice, has the theme Flowers of the Orient. Contestants will have 2 hours to create a design up to 1.2 meters deep, 1.2 meters wide and 2.25 meters high.

On the same day they will have their artistic flair tested again with a surprise item which they will have to complete in just over an hour. This is an exciting test to determine how spontaneous these designers from around the world can be. Only 15 minutes before the assignment will starts, they will get to see the various products and materials they are allowed to use.

The following day they will start with a table arrangement entitled ‘Green Tea for Two’. They will be given two hours to create their masterpiece on a round table, taking into account that the maximum height is two metres. The last preliminary event is a bridal bouquet with no size restrictions, but obviously the ‘oriental pearl’ bride must still be able to carry the designer’s creation.

The final competition round

The top 10 competitors from the preliminary rounds will be challenged again on their creative flair with two more surprise items to select the grand winner.

Under severe pressure of time and fierce competition, the competitors will be required to create impressive items with only a few minutes preparation time. This usually results in some really varied arrangements and daring designs.
